Women's Hoops Hosts Western Carolina Monday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball team will play host to Western Carolina in a Southern Conference contest Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the Pete Hanna Center.

Samford enters the game with a record of 13-6 overall and 6-4 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 61-49 win over Chattanooga on Wednesday.

Monday's game is the second in Samford's current four-game homestand. So far this season, Samford has a record of 8-1 in home games. In three-plus seasons in the Pete Hanna Center, the Bulldogs are 40-9 in the facility.

Samford is led statistically by seniors Emily London and Savannah Hill. London leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.9 points per game, while Hill is second with an average of 12.6 points per game. Hill leads the team in rebounding (6.1 rpg.) and assists (73), while London ranks second in both categories (4.2 rpg., 62 assists).

Juniors Ruth Ketcham and Paige Anderson are tied for third on the team in scoring, both averaging 7.5 points per game. Sophomore Hannah Dawson ranks fifth, scoring 7.1 points per contest.

Western Carolina is currently 6-12 overall and 4-5 in SoCon games. The Catamounts played Saturday evening at Chattanooga, coming away with a 71-55 loss to the Lady Mocs.

Western Carolina is led in scoring by Kaila'Shea Menendez, averaging 10.8 points per game. Caitlin Hollifield is scoring 10.4 points per game.

Janae' McKinney leads Western Carolina in rebounding, averaging 7.3 boards per contest. Hollifield ranks second in rebounding, with an average of 6.8 rebounds per game.

Kendra Carroll leads the Catamounts in assists, dishing out 34 so far this season. Hollifield also ranks second in assists with 24 this season.

Samford and Western Carolina are meeting for the seventh time, with Samford holding a 4-2 advantage in the series. Earlier this season, the teams met on Nov. 29, in Cullowhee, N.C. Samford won that meeting, defeating the Catamounts by a score of 63-48.
