BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team practiced for about two hours in full pads Tuesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs are preparing for Saturday's Southern Conference game at sixth-ranked Appalachian State.
Samford enters the game with a record of 4-2 overall and 2-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs have won three-straight games and are coming off a 43-31 win over Elon last Saturday. Appalachian State is currently 4-2 overall and 2-1 in league play after a 49-42 win at The Citadel.
Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said he liked his team's effort and enthusiasm in Tuesday's workout.
"I thought we had a good practice," Sullivan said. "We started working on our game plan. It wasn't polished but I thought our effort was good and our enthusiasm was good."
Sullivan also praised the work of the scout team for giving the team a good look at what the opponent does each week.
"I can't say enough about the job that our scout team is doing," Sullivan said. "They are helping us get better, and we have a lot of work to do to get ready to play the number six team in the country."
Samford will practice again Wednesday. The practice is scheduled to start at 4:40 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.
Saturday's game at Appalachian State is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. (CT) start from ASU's Kidd Brewer Stadium. The game can be heard live on the Samford Sports Network, including Samford's on-campus station, WVSU-FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at www.samford.edu/wvsu.
