BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - In a battle of the top two teams in the Southern Conference standings, the Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Appalachian State Mountaineers Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.

Appalachian State currently leads the Southern Conference with a 13-2 league record. Samford sits in second place in the SoCon standings with a 12-4 conference record.

Samford is 19-6 overall this season. With a win on Saturday, Samford would secure its fourth-straight 20-win season. It would also give Samford at least 20 wins in five of its last six seasons. The Bulldogs are coming off a 68-48 win at Wofford on Feb. 7.

Appalachian State is currently 19-4 overall. The Mountaineers last played on Feb. 5, winning at College of Charleston by a score of 71-39.

Samford and Appalachian State will be meeting for the seventh time, with Samford holding a 4-2 advantage in the series. Earlier this season, the teams met on Jan. 14 in Boone, N.C., with ASU coming away with a 74-62 win.

Saturday's game will also be Senior Day for Samford's two seniors, Emily London and Savannah Hill.

London is Samford's all-time leading scorer with 1,618 career points. She also holds the school career records for free throws made and three-pointers made. Hill ranks third in school history in scoring with 1,436 career points. She also ranks second in school history in rebounding, assists, blocked shots and field goals made.

For this season, London leads Samford in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game, while Hill is second, scoring 12.1 points per game. Hill leads the team in rebounding and assists, averaging 6.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. London ranks second in both rebounds (4.0 rpg.) and assists (3.0 apg.).

Junior guard Paige Anderson is third on the team in scoring, averaging 7.4 points per game. Sophomore forward Hannah Dawson averages 7.3 points per game, while junior guard Ruth Ketcham scores 7.1 points per game.

Appalachian State is led in scoring by Ashlen Dewart, averaging 16.8 points per game. Sam Ramirez averages 16.6 points per game, while Anna Freeman is scoring 14.4 points per game. Freeman leads the Mountaineers in rebounding, pulling down 6.7 rebounds per game. Dewart averages 6.3 boards per contest. Freeman also leads the team in assists with 97. Ramirez has dished out 91 assists so far this season.
