BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team held its fifth practice of the spring with a two-hour, full-pad workout Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.
The Bulldogs went through some individual drills as well as a few 11-on-11 team drills. Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said the defense came up with some big plays during the team periods.
"It was a typical spring practice," Sullivan said. "It's never as good as it seems and never as bad as it seems. The defense created a couple of turnovers and that's good to see on that side. Obviously, you don't want to see that from the offensive side, but I thought overall it was a good practice."
Sullivan said he has liked the effort the players have put into each practice so far this spring.
"It's still early," Sullivan said. "But, I think what we are getting is a lot of effort and a lot of enthusiasm at every practice. That has been a positive for us so far this spring."
The Bulldogs will take Thursday off before returning to practice on Friday. The team will practice Friday at 4 p.m. in shorts and helmets at Seibert Stadium.
Samford will hold the first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday. The scrimmage is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at Seibert Stadium.
