BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford volleyball team took time out of their busy schedules on Monday night to visit the Ronald McDonald House in downtown Birmingham. The team played with the kids and served them ice cream.

"Our volleyball girls are very social and a lot of fun," said Head Coach Derek Schroeder, "so I wanted to put them in an environment where they could brighten someone's day. David Neisler suggested the Ronald McDonald House and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I think we will make regular appearances over there from now on."

Junior middle blocker Lauren Hutchinson was glad to spend time with the children and the parents who stay at the house, a home-away-from-home for the families that need to travel to Birmingham for medical care.

"Going to the Ronald McDonald House was an incredible experience. Giving the children and the families staying there ice cream and seeing their happy faces was fantastic."

The Birmingham Ronald McDonald House is located on 1700 4th Avenue South. Those interested can find contact information, upcoming special events and various ways to help through their website HERE.
