BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford Bulldog Club held its third-annual Bulldog Bash, sponsored by BB&T, with University of Kentucky head men's basketball coach John Calipari serving as the featured speaker, Thursday evening at the Pete Hanna Center on Samford's campus.
The Bulldog Bash is a fundraiser held to benefit the Samford athletics department. This year's event raised an estimated $102,000 for the Bulldogs.
The night began with a silent auction where all attendees were able to bid on donated items, with the proceeds going to Samford athletics. Following the silent auction, dinner was served, with over 400 Samford supporters attending.
Following dinner, Samford director of athletics Martin Newton welcomed everyone and introduced Calipari, who followed with a 45-minute speech. Samford president Dr. Andrew Westmoreland then gave closing remarks.
Thursday night's event was the most successful Bulldog Bash, to date, nearly doubling the funds raised at the last Bulldog Bash.
