HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- The Samford University women's golf team will continue play in its challenging 2014 spring slate this week as the Bulldogs are scheduled to compete in the talent-laden Low Country Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford College, Sunday and Monday, at the pristine Moss Creek Golf Club.
Â
The 10-team, two-day competition will consist of 36 holes and will be held at the par-72, 5,815-yard South Course of the Moss Creek Golf Club.
Â
The field for this week's Low Country Intercollegiate will consist of the following 10 teams: Samford, host-school Wofford, Appalachian State, Bethune-Cookman, The Citadel, Gardner Webb, Presbyterian, Radford, USC Upstate and Western Carolina.
Â
The Bulldogs did not compete in last season's edition of the Low Country Intercollegiate as Western Carolina posted a weather-shortened victory in the one-day event with a score of 40-over-par 328.
Â
Last week, Samford closed out play in the 2014 JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational with a sixth-place finish as the Bulldogs posted a final 54-hole score of 906 (303-293-310) at the 16-team event being held at Eagle Landing Golf Club.
Â
Individually, Samford true freshman Sydney Needham carded a three-round tally of 5-over-par 221 (75-70-76) and garnered a seventh-place finish at the 93-competitor event.
