Track & Field Ready For SoCon Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University track and field team is set to compete in the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships on April 26-27 hosted by Wofford College at Spartanburg High School in Spartanburg, S.C.

The Samford men look to avenge and improve upon its second place finish during the 2013 Outdoor Championships held at Georgia Southern. Western Carolina took home the crown and just edged out the Bulldogs by 13.5 points in the total team standings. This season SU holds the top spot by single point in the SoCon power rankings with 226.5 points with WCU in second.

The women's side brings back the Most Outstanding Athlete in senior Ashley Cope from last year's outdoor championships to lead the charge for the Bulldogs. Samford currently sits in second place in the power rankings with 161 points. Western Carolina looks to be the heavy favorite heading in holding the top spot with 197.5 points.
