BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford University women's tennis team continued its dominance at home this season Saturday as the Bulldogs tallied a 5-2 victory against the Elon Phoenix in a crucial Southern Conference matchup held at the Samford Tennis Center.

Samford (15-2, 6-1 SoCon) owns an unblemished 10-0 record at home this season and has not been defeated at the Samford Tennis Center since March 23, 2013. Since then, the Bulldogs have rattled off 12-consecutive victories when playing in Birmingham.

Saturday's win also proved to be Samford's 13th triumph out of its last 14 meetings. The Bulldogs are currently in the midst of a three-match winning streak with victories against Wofford, 7-0, Lipscomb, 7-0, and Elon (10-7, 4-2 SoCon), 5-2.

Against the Phoenix on Saturday, Samford earned the all-important doubles point and then received singles wins from Stephanie N'tcha, Yasmeen Ebada, Emily Mallory and Lauren Caballero.

The doubles point proved to be a huge advantage for the Bulldogs as Kristin Lewis and Mallory fended off a charge from Elon's combination of Jordan Johnston and Barbora Lazarova, 8-7. With their win, Samford's Lewis and Mallory secured the Bulldogs' key 1-0 advantage in the match.

In singles play, Ebada improved to 15-1 this season with a quick 6-0, 6-1 triumph against the Phoenix's Lazarova on court No. 3.

Also winning in straight sets for Samford on Saturday were N'tcha on court No. 1 and Mallory on court No. 6. N'tcha, the Bulldogs' talented junior from Abomey-Calavi, Benin, defeated Elon's Johnston, 6-3, 6-4, while Mallory topped Taylor Casey, 6-4, 6-2. With their wins, N'tcha improved to 13-3 as Mallory moved to 12-2 this season.

As a team, Samford boasts a brilliant 79-20 overall record in singles play this year.

The Samford University women's tennis team will next be in action Sunday at 11 a.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs continue their five-match, regular season ending homestand against the UNCG Spartans in yet another crucial conference contest to be held at the Samford Tennis Center.
