Samford Strong Leadership Academy Seminars Announced

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— Samford University's Strong Leadership Academy will hold a series of seminars for the school's student-athletes this spring.
The seminars will begin on Feb. 17 with three-time Olympian Picabo Street as the featured speaker. Street was a gold medalist in 1998, before retiring from competitive skiing in 2002.
Jeff Stephens, a 2004 Samford graduate will speak at a Mar. 3 seminar. Stephens serves as general manager for 365, Inc., which runs worldrugbyshop.com and worldsoccershop.com, as well as many other successful sports-related websites. In 2013 he was selected as the Outstanding Young Alumnus of the year.
The final seminar for the 2014-15 academic year will feature Spencer Tillman on Apr. 7. Tillman, who currently serves as the lead analyst for College Football Today on CBS, was an All-American running back at the University of Oklahoma from 1982-1985. He served as a captain on the Sooners' National Championship team in 1985, and was also named MVP of the 1986 Orange Bowl. Tillman played eight seasons in the NFL, winning a Super Bowl Championship with the San Francisco 49ers in 1989.
Samford's Strong Leadership Academy is a program jointly developed between the athletics department and the Frances Marlin Mann Center for Ethics and Leadership. Its mission is to bring in successful athletes to share their personal stories and the importance of faith and character to success in all areas of life to Samford student-athletes.
