CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Samford University soccer team extended its winning streak against the Chattanooga Mocs to 10-consecutive matches Friday as the Bulldogs rolled to a 4-0 Southern Conference triumph held on the road at Finley Stadium. Samford has not been defeated by Chattanooga in over 17 years, dating back to Sept. 21, 1999.

With the victory, Samford (8-3-2, 4-1 SoCon) also extended its winning streak on the season to four. The Bulldogs own a 7-1-1 record in their last nine outings and have only suffered a single loss in conference play this year, a tough 3-2 road defeat at Furman on Sept. 25.

Samford and Chattanooga (5-8-1, 3-2 SoCon) both entered Friday's showdown tied for first place in the league standings.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the Mocs as senior Jermaine Seoposenwe connected on a penalty-kick attempt in the ninth minute. With the goal, Seoposenwe tallied her SoCon-leading fifth game-winner of the season. The tally also marked Seoposenwe's 10th of the season and 20th of her career, which moves her into sole possession of ninth place on Samford's all-time goals scored list.

In the 23rd minute of play, the Bulldogs quickly extended their lead to 2-0 when Courtney Hendrickson notched her second goal of the season following an assist from Abriella Argueta. Argueta's helper proved to be her fifth of the 2016 campaign, which currently ranks second on the team.

Samford outshot the Mocs, 12-3, with eight attempts being on-goal, while one of Chattanooga's shots proved to be on-goal. The Bulldogs' junior goalkeeper Anna Maddox finished with one key save en route to improving her record to 7-0 this season.

In the second half of action, Samford added goals from Argueta and Sara Smeltzer to pull away from the Mocs and earn its decisive 4-0 victory.

Since 2003, the Bulldogs have outscored Chattanooga by a total of 34-6.

Samford has registered at least one goal in 12 of its 13 matches this season. Since playing to a hard-fought 0-0 draw at No. 26-ranked South Alabama in their season opener held Aug. 19, the Bulldogs have scored a goal in 12-consecutive outings.

The Samford University soccer team will next be in action Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs return home to Birmingham, Alabama, to face the Western Carolina Catamounts in another key league matchup to be held at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.

Next week's match will also feature Samford's Senior Night where the Bulldogs will honor all eight members of their graduating class. Samford's 2016 senior class comprised of Anna Allen, Taylor Borman, Olivia Cole, Emily Jones, Malcanisha Kelley, Katie Peters, Seoposenwe and Smeltzer will all be honored with a special Senior Night presentation before the match.
