BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— The Samford women's basketball team will play at Chattanooga in a key Southern Conference contest Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. (CT) at UTC's McKenzie Arena.

The teams enter the game just a half of game apart in the SoCon standings. Chattanooga is currently 9-2 in league games, while Samford boasts an 8-2 SoCon mark. Mercer currently leads the league with a 9-1 conference record.

Samford enters the game with a record of 16-9 overall. The Bulldogs are coming off a 63-61 loss at Mercer on Feb. 13.

So far this season, Destiney Elliott leads Samford in both scoring and rebounding at 9.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Taylor Reece averages 9.1 points per game.

Amara Mayers is second on the team in rebounding at 3.8 rebounds per game, while Krista Stricklin averages 3.6 boards per contest.

Brittany Stevens leads the team in assists at 2.6 assists per game. Elliott averages 1.8 assists per game.

Chattanooga comes into the contest with a mark of 18-7 overall. The Mocs are coming off a 65-51 win at Western Carolina on Feb. 13.

Jasmine Joyner leads the Mocs in scoring, averaging 12.9 points per game. Keiana Gilbert scores 12.2 points per game for UTC.

Joyner is also the team leader in rebounding, grabbing 9.3 boards per contest. Moses Johnson averages 5.4 rebounds per game.

Alicia Payne is the team leader in assists, averaging 4.0 assists per game. Gilbert averages 2.5 assists per game.

Samford and Chattanooga will be meeting for the 24th time, with Chattanooga holding a 16-7 advantage in the series. The teams met earlier this season, on Jan. 23, with Samford earning a 48-43 win over the Mocs in the Pete Hanna Center.
