Rebels Use Long Ball To Push Past Bulldogs

OXFORD, Miss. – The Samford University softball team led the majority of the contest against the University of Mississippi but fell 5-4 via a trio of Rebel home runs on Tuesday, March 29, at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.

The Bulldogs (18-15) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over their Southeastern Conference opponent thanks to freshman Hannah Trombley's 10th home run of the year and an RBI single from senior Megan Dowdy.

Trombley's two-run home run scored junior Abbie Miranda who led off the top of the second inning with a hard hit double to right center field.

The Rebels (26-9) hit the first of their three home runs in the bottom of the second inning. Designated player Natalie Martinez hit her fourth home run of the season on a solo shot to straight-away center field that closed down the Samford lead to 3-1.
