Three Bulldogs Earn Wins At ITA All-American

TULSA, Okla. – Three members of the Samford men's tennis team competed in the prestigious Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American this weekend at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa.
 
Samford's Justin Ghavami, Eduardo Lourido and Jake Faundez each competed in the event. Competing against some of the top players in collegiate tennis, each of Samford's representatives earned a win during the tournament.
 
In Saturday's pre-qualifying round, Ghavami defeated Marcello Moreira from Oral Roberts, 6-2, 6-1. Ghavami then fell to Keivon Tabrizi of Indiana, 6-0, 6-1.
 
Lourido earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over Jeremy Mueller of Eastern Washington. Lourido then dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Christian Langmo of Miami.
 
Faundez earned a bye through the first round and he then defeated Jorge Poyatos Garcia of Troy, 6-4, 6-2. In Sunday's third pre-qualifying round, Faundez fell to Filip Kraljevic of Ole Miss, 6-4, 6-3 to end the event for Samford.
 
The entire Samford team will be in action when the Bulldogs host the Samford Fall Invitational, Oct. 13-15 at the Samford Tennis Complex.
