BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Samford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its sixth-annual newcomer social for all new student-athletes last week in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
All freshmen and transfer student-athletes, as well as members of SAAC were invited to the event. Samford director of athletics Martin Newton got the evening started by addressing the student-athletes.
 
The student-athletes then divided into teams and competed in a variety of events, including assembling a puzzle, balloon cup knock down, pie eating, toilet paper mummy, Oreo challenge, panty hose bowling, streamers, tissue box pull, stick the landing and frozen t-shirt. The first team to complete all activities was declared the winner.
 
At the conclusion of the evening, the student-athletes were served ice cream.
