Bulldogs Head To Mobile For South Alabama Invite

MOBILE, Ala. -- The Samford University track and field team will continue competing in its 2017 spring outdoor season this week as the Bulldogs are slated to square off against student-athletes from 15 schools in the three-day South Alabama Invitational, which will be held Thursday-Saturday at the Jaguar Track.
The meet will begin with women's heptathlon and men's decathlon events on the first day of competition and conclude Saturday.
The first event of the decathlon will get underway at 10 a.m. (CT) on Thursday to open the meet, with the start of the heptathlon scheduled 30 minutes later.
The second half of both competitions will get underway at the same time Friday, with field events including the javelin, shot put, triple jump and men's pole vault slated for a 4:30 p.m., start that day.
On Saturday, the field events will begin at 9:30 a.m., while action on the track begins with the women's 100-meter hurdles at 11:30 a.m.
In addition to Samford and the homestanding South Alabama Jaguars, the field will also include either individuals or full squads from Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Louisiana-Lafayette, Troy, UAB, Southern, Southeastern Louisiana, New Orleans, Mobile, Mississippi Valley State, Meridian Community College, Jacksonville State, Columbus State and Alabama A&M.
Last week, Samford closed out the 2017 Tiger Track Classic in impressive fashion Saturday as the Bulldogs earned 15 top-10 finishes and nine top-five performances at the 17-team competition held at Hutsell-Rosen Track on the campus of Auburn University.
