BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The 23
rd-ranked Samford football team will play its Southern Conference home opener against 11
th-ranked The Citadel Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.
Samford enters the game with a record of 2-2 overall and 0-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a heart-breaking 38-34 loss at Western Carolina last week.
The Citadel is currently 3-0 overall and 1-0 in league play. The visiting Bulldogs took last week off from competition. The Citadel last played on Sept. 16, earning a 31-25 win at ETSU.
Samford and The Citadel are meeting for the 11th time, with The Citadel holding a 6-4 advantage in the series. The teams last met on Nov. 5, 2016 in Charleston, S.C. The Citadel earned a dramatic 37-34 overtime win over Samford in last season's contest. In the nine meetings since Samford joined the SoCon in 2008, The Citadel leads, 5-4.
