FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Samford men's basketball team picked up a 74-66 road win at Purdue-Fort Wayne Friday evening at Memorial Coliseum.
With the win, Samford improves to 6-1 on the season, marking the team's best start to a season since beginning the 1996-97 season at 6-1. Purdue-Fort Wayne falls to 3-4 with the loss.

- Josh Sharkey tied a career high with 25 points in the win. He also had six rebounds, six assists and seven steals.
- Ruben Guerrero tallied 15 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs.
- Myron Gordon added 11 points for Samford.
- Robert Allen tallied seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.
- John Konchar led Purdue-Fort Wayne with 24 points and nine rebounds.
- Kason Harrell added 14 points for the Mastodons.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Samford took an early 12-8 lead with 14:20 to go in the first half after a layup by Sharkey.
- Purdue-Fort Wayne responded with a 9-2 run to take a 17-14 lead with 11:59 left in the first half.
- The Mastodons extended their lead to eight points at 26-18 with 7:55 left in the half, but Samford came back with an 11-2 run to take a 29-28 lead with 5:21 to go in the first half after a layup by Allen.
- With the game tied at 34-34, Samford closed the half on an 8-2 run to take a 42-36 lead into the locker room at halftime.
- PFW came back to take a 54-49 lead with 12:30 left in the game, but Samford went on an 11-0 run to take a 60-54 lead with 9:45 to go after a layup by Sharkey.
- Purdue-Fort Wayne fought back to cut the Samford lead to two points at 68-66 with 2:48 to go in the contest.
- With the score still 68-66, Sharkey hit six clutch free throws in the final 17 seconds of the game to put the game away and give Samford a 74-66 victory.
