BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team earned a 2-0 win over UNCG Friday night in this year's Shauna's House game at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.
The players wore special jerseys for the occasion and the jerseys were auctioned off to raise money for Shauna's House to build houses for orphans in the Ukraine. The project honors Shauna Yelton, the late wife of Samford head coach
Todd Yelton, who passed away from cancer in 2015.
With the win, Samford improves to 8-3-5 overall and 5-1-1 in Southern Conference play. UNCG falls to 7-7-1 overall and 4-2 in league play.
KEY PLAYS
- The Bulldogs got the scoring started early when Caroline Orman scored on a header off a cross from Alyssa Frazier in the sixth minute of the match.
- Frazier later scored in the 75th minute off a free kick.
