Record-Setting First Half Lifts WBB To 84-56 Win At Murray State

MURRAY, Ky. –
The Samford women's basketball team set a school record for first-half points (51) on its way to an 84-56 win at Murray State Friday evening.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 4-9 on the season. Murray State falls to 6-4 with the loss.

  • The 51 points scored in the first half set a new program record for first-half points, breaking the previous mark of 50 against FAU in 1999.
  • Katie Allen led five Samford players in double figures with 17 points.
  • Natalie Armstrong had 16 points and eight rebounds.
  • Sarah Myers scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
  • Charity Brown had 10 points and six assists, and Olivia Crozier also had 10 points.
  • Macey Turley led Murray State with 14 points.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Samford dominated the first quarter, racing out to an 18-0 lead with 2:01 left in the period after a layup by Myers.
  • Samford led 26-5 at the end of the first quarter, with Allen hitting a three-pointer at the buzzer.
  • The Bulldogs continued their hot shooting in the second quarter, pushing their lead to 37 points at 46-9 with 3:30 to go in the quarter following a three-point play by Shauntai Battle.
  • Samford held a 51-14 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.
  • In the third quarter, Murray State fought back to cut the lead to 23 points at 57-34 with 2:22 left in the quarter after a three-pointer by Alexis Burpo.
  • Samford pushed its lead back out to 25 points at 64-39 at the end of the third period.
  • The Bulldogs increased their lead to 32 points at 80-48 with 3:24 left in the game after a pair of free throws by Armstrong.
  • MSU could get no closer than 27 points the rest of the way and Samford came away with the 84-56 win.
