Men's Basketball Falls At Georgetown

The Samford men's basketball team dropped a 99-71 contest at Georgetown Saturday afternoon at Capital One Arena.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 6-8 on the season. Georgetown improves to 9-3 with the win.

  • Brandon Austin led Samford with 26 points in the loss.
  • Josh Sharkey had 24 points and seven assists.
  • Jalen Dupree had eight points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.
  • Georgetown was led by Omer Yurtseven with 32 points and 17 rebounds.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Samford took an early 9-8 lead with 15:22 to go in the first half after a three-pointer by Logan Padgett.
  • Georgetown answered with a 12-0 run to take a 20-9 lead with 11:48 to go in the half after three free throws by Jahvon Blair.
  • Georgetown pushed its lead out to 22 points at 40-18, but Samford went on an 11-2 run to cut the lead to 13 points at 42-29, and the Hoyas led, 44-31 at halftime.
  • The Hoyas started the second half hot, taking a 62-36 lead with 16:06 to go in the contest.
  • Samford fought back to cut the lead to 20 points at 78-58, but Georgetown was able to stretch the lead out to 30 at 94-64 with 3:11 to go in the game.
  • The Hoyas finished with the 99-71 win.
