CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Samford women's tennis earned a 4-2 win over Richmond Thursday afternoon at Patriots Point.

With the win, Samford improves to 9-6 on the season. Richmond falls to 5-5 with the loss.

Samford jumped out to an early lead, winning the doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 3 to take a 1-0 advantage. The doubles match at No. 2 was not finished.

In singles, Samford earned wins at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 to secure the win. Richmond won the singles matches on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts to make the final score 4-2. The singles match on the No. 4 court was not finished.

Samford will open Southern Conference play March 21 when the Bulldogs play at Mercer. The match is set for a 1:30 p.m. (CT) start from Macon, Ga. A full recap and results will be posted to www.samfordsports.com following the completion of the match.
