OXFORD, Miss. – The Samford softball team grabbed a lead in the middle innings Sunday at Ole Miss, but could not hold on as the Rebels came back to down the Bulldogs, 6-3.
With the loss, Samford falls to 9-21 on the season. Ole Miss improves to 20-7 with the win.

- Ashlyn Barnes and Maddie Dorsett each went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead Samford at the plate.
- Whitney Hinton, Madison Couch and Kelsey Royalty drove in a run each for the Bulldogs.
- Emily Barnett (1-1) took the loss for Samford, pitching a third of an inning in relief, allowing three runs on two hits.
- Gabby Alvarez doubled and drove in two runs to lead Ole Miss at the plate.
- Autumn Gillespie hit a solo home run in a 1-for-2 performance for the Rebels.
- Ava Tillman (4-2) pitched 4.0 innings, giving up three runs on five hits to earn the win for the Rebels.
- Molly Jacobsen picked up her second save of the season, tossing the final 3.0 innings, allowing just two hits.
SCORING SUMMARY
- After Ole Miss took the lead with a run in the bottom of the second inning, Samford came back with two runs in the top of the third inning. Hinton doubled to drive in Barnes for the tying run. Dorsett then scored on a sacrifice fly by Couch to give Samford a 2-1 lead.
- Samford stretched its lead to 3-1 with a run in the top of the fourth inning. Royalty singled up the middle to drive in Merritt Cahoon for Samford's third run of the contest.
- Ole Miss, however, came back with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead.

Samford will host Tennessee Tech in a doubleheader Tuesday, March 19. The first game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start from the Samford Softball Stadium.
