SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. -- The Samford women's golf team earned its first win of the season on Tuesday at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate in Sevierville, Tenn.
The Bulldogs finished the tournament at 25 over par 877 (289-290-298) and edged out second place Marshall by one stroke. The first place finish marks the first time that the Bulldogs have won a tournament since 2014.
The biggest highlight for Samford was Emily Uhland, who was able to take individual honors with a two-over-par 215 over three rounds (71-70-74). Uhland's win marks the first of her college career and the first time that a Samford player has ended on top of the leaderboard since 2014.
Uhland's teammates, Sophie Membrino and Madeline Davis, were not far behind her on the leaderboard as they both finished in a tie for fourth. Membrino (70-74-74) and Davis (74-69-75) both carded a three round five-over-par 218.
Next, the Bulldogs will take their momentum from the win to the Panther Intercollegiate in Stockbridge, Ga. on Sunday, March 31 through Tuesday, April 2. The Panther Intercollegiate will be the final event before the Southern Conference Tournament beginning April 14.
