JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Samford men's basketball team fell on the road at ETSU, 88-63 in Southern Conference action Wednesday night at Freedom Hall.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 8-11 overall and 2-3 in Southern Conference play. ETSU improves to 16-3 overall and 5-1 in league games.

• Josh Sharkey led Samford with 18 points.
• Robert Allen has 12 points for the Bulldogs.
• ETSU was led by Tray Boyd III with 16 points.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• ETSU jumped out to an early 8-2 lead with 17:34 to go in the first half.
• Samford fought back to cut the lead to two points on three different occasions in the next several minutes.
• With Samford trailing, 19-17, ETSU went on a 14-4 run to take a 33-21 lead with 3:48 left in the first period.
• Samford fought back to cut the ETSU lead to 37-29 heading into the locker room at halftime.
• ETSU pushed its lead out to 20 points at 59-39 with 12:51 to go in the second half.
• The Bucs led by as many as 29 points in the second half.
• ETSU came away with the 88-63 win.

• Samford will play host to Mercer Saturday in the Pete Hanna Center. The game is set for a 2 p.m. start and is the first game of a doubleheader with the women's basketball team.
