BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's basketball team fell at home to Mercer, 90-75 in Southern Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Pete Hanna Center.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 8-12 overall and 2-4 in SoCon play. Mercer improves to 8-11 overall and 2-4 in league play.

• Robert Allen led Samford with a double-double, posting 16 points and 11 rebounds.
• J.P. Robinson scored a career-high 15 points for Samford.
• Brandon Austin scored 14 points for the Bulldogs.
• Mercer was led by Ethan Stair with 26 points.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• The teams traded baskets early until Mercer was able to extend to an 11-7 lead with 15:06 to play in the first half.
• The Bears stretched their lead to six points at 24-18 with 8:29 left in the first period.
• With Samford trailing, 39-31, Mercer closed the half with a 12-1 run to take a 51-32 lead into the locker room at halftime.
• Mercer led be as many as many as 30 points at 72-42 with 13:55 left in the game.
• Samford fought back to cut the lead to 15 points, but the Bulldogs could get no closer as Mercer closed out the 90-75 win.
