TROY, Ala. – The Samford men's basketball team fell at Troy, 79-71, Wednesday night at Trojan Arena.
With the loss, Samford falls to 2-3 on the young season. Troy improves to 4-3 with the win.

- Samford was led in the game by Christian Guess with 18 points, 13 rebounds and four assists.
- Myron Gordon added 16 points for the Bulldogs.
- Troy was led by Khalyl Waters with 21 points, and Zay Williams with 20 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was tight early in the first half until Troy used an 8-0 run to take an 18-6 lead with 16:02 to go in the first half after a three-point play by Desmond Williams.
- Samford closed to within eight points at 39-31 with 6:52 left in the half after a three-point play by Guess.
- Samford cut the lead to six points twice in the first half and Troy took a 47-40 lead into the locker room at halftime.
- Troy extended its lead back to 11 points at 57-46 with 14:48 left in the second half after a layup by Kam Woods.
- Samford came back to cut the lead to three points at 58-55 with 10:01 to play after a jumper by Preston Parks.
- Troy pushed the lead back out to seven at 62-55 after a pair of free throws by Williams.
- With Troy leading, 66-60, Samford scored the next four points to cut the lead to two points at 66-64 with 5:34 left after a layup by Guess.
- Troy scored the next five points to push its lead back out to seven at 71-64 with 4:32 left after a pair of free throws by Williams.
- The Trojans extended their lead to 10 points at 76-66 with 2:00 to go after a three-point play by Nick Stampley.
- Samford scored the next five points to cut the lead to 76-71 with 1:13 to go after a three-point play by Guess.
- Samford, however, could get no closer as Troy closed out the 79-71 win.
