BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team had four players score in double figures, but the Bulldogs dropped a 75-67 decision to UT Martin in the team's home opener Tuesday night at the Pete Hanna Center.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 0-4 on the season. UT Martin improves to 1-1 with the win.
 
FROM THE BOX SCORE
	- Samford was led by Andrea Cournoyer with 18 points in her first action in a Samford uniform.
- Annie Ramil had 13 points and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
- Raven Omar scored 12 points for the Bulldogs, while Mallory Hampton added 10 points.
- UT Martin was led by Chelsey Perry with 31 points and 11 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
	- After falling behind early, 5-2, Samford went on an 11-3 run to take a 13-8 lead with 3:15 to go in the first quarter after a basket by Omar.
- Samford built its lead to 18-10 with 2:07 left in the opening period following a jumper by Ramil.
- Samford held a 20-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- The Bulldogs pushed their lead to nine points at 31-22 with 6:02 remaining in the second quarter after a jumper by Makaila Woolard.
- UT Martin answered with a 7-0 run to cut the lead to two points at 31-29 with 4:07 left in the second quarter after a three-pointer by Seygan Robins.
- Samford pushed the lead back out to nine points at 40-31 with 2:04 left before halftime following a three-pointer by Omar.
- Samford held a 42-37 lead going into the locker room at halftime.
- UT Martin opened the third quarter with a 12-0 run to take a 49-42 lead with 5:11 to go in the period after a layup by Demi Burdick.
- The Skyhawks opened up a 10-point lead at 54-44 with 4:00 left in the third quarter after a three-pointer by Perry.
- Samford fought back to cut the lead to 61-55, and the Skyhawks led, 63-55 at the end of the third quarter.
- The teams traded baskets early in the fourth quarter until UT Martin was able to extend to a 12-point lead at 72-60 with 4:43 left after a pair of free throws by Hayley Harrison.
- Samford was able to cut the lead to seven points at 72-65 with 2:41 left after a three-pointer by Cournoyer.
- UT Martin came away with the 75-67 victory.
