Men's Basketball Falls On The Road At Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
The Samford men's basketball team dropped an 80-56 decision at Wofford in Southern Conference action Saturday night at Richardson Indoor Stadium.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 8-16 overall and 2-8 in Southern Conference play. Wofford improves to 15-8 overall and 7-3 in league games.

  • Josh Sharkey had 14 points and seven assists in the game. His seven assists give him 701 in his career, making him the first player in Samford history to go over 700 assists in a career.
  • Brandon Austin led the team in scoring with 15 points.
  • Wofford was led by Chevez Goodwin with 16 points.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Wofford jumped out to an early 9-2 lead with 15:29 left in the first half after a three-pointer by Storm Murphy.
  • Samford fought back to cut the lead to two at 11-9 and again at 14-12 with 13:12 left in the first half after a three-pointer by Robert Allen.
  • Wofford answered with a 10-0 run to push its lead to 24-12 with 9:42 remaining in the half after a three-pointer by Tray Hollowell.
  • Wofford pulled away for a 40-23 halftime lead.
  • Samford came back to cut the lead to 42-30 with 18:03 left in the second half after a three-pointer by Logan Padgett.
  • Wofford then went on a 14-2 run to push its lead to 56-32 with 13:40 left after a layup by Isaiah Bigelow.
  • The Terriers led by as many as 28 points in the second half.
  • Samford, however, fought back to cut the lead to 19 at 71-52 with 4:21 left after two free throws by Sharkey.
  • Wofford came away with the 80-56 victory.
