BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's basketball team dropped an 86-71 decision to Furman Wednesday evening in the Pete Hanna Center.

With the loss, Samford falls to 8-19 overall and 2-11 in Southern Conference play. Furman improves to 21-5 overall and 11-2 in league action.

Brandon Austin led Samford with 21 points in the loss.
Jalen Dupree had 16 points and eight rebounds.
Robert Allen scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Josh Sharkey had 12 points and eight assists.
Furman was led by Clay Mounce with 25 points.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Samford started the game off hot, scoring the first five points of the contest.
Furman answered with a 13-0 run to take a 13-5 lead with 14:04 left in the first half after three made free throws by Mike Bothwell.
Furman pushed its lead out to 13 points at 25-12 with 8:30 left in the first half.
Samford fought back to cut the lead to four at 32-28 with 3:27 to go in the opening half following a three-pointer by Austin.
Furman took a 42-35 lead into the locker room at halftime.
With Samford trailing, 50-41, Furman went on a 12-2 run to take a 62-43 lead with 12:25 left in the second half after a three-pointer by Mounce.
Furman led by as many as 25 points in the second half and the Paladins finished with the 86-71 win.
