HOW IT HAPPENED

• LSU scored two runs in the third inning and two more in the sixth for the 4-0 win.
• The runs in the sixth inning came on back-to-back home runs by Morgan Cummins and Taylor Tidwell.

 
 ON THE MOUND

• Taylor DeCelles (1-1) pitched 5.1 innings, giving up four runs on nine hits to take the loss for Samford.
• For LSU, Ali Kilponen (2-0) pitched the complete 7.0 innings, giving up no runs on three hits to earn the win.

 
NOTABLES 

• O'Neil Roberson, Timberlyn Shurbutt and Ryan Brzozoski had one hit each for Samford.
• Tidwell and Cummins each homered for LSU, while Aliyah Andrews and Savannah Stewart drove in a run each.
