CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Samford men's basketball team earned a key road Southern Conference win, 74-62, at The Citadel Saturday afternoon at McAlister Field House.
The win breaks an 11-game losing streak for Samford and improves the team's record to 9-19 overall and 3-11 in SoCon play. The Citadel falls to 6-19 overall and 0-14 in league play.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- With Samford trailing, 7-5, the team went on an 11-0 run to take a 16-7 lead with 15:45 left in the first half after a three-pointer by Sharkey.
- The Citadel answered with a 9-0 run to tie the game at 16-16 with 12:28 to go in the first half after a layup by Harris.
- The lead went back and forth the rest of the first half.
- The Citadel closed the half with a 10-2 run to take a 37-31 lead into the locker room at halftime.
- In the second half, The Citadel built a nine-point lead at 42-33 with 18:40 to go after a layup by Abee Fletcher.
- Samford then went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to two at 42-40 with 17:22 left following a three-pointer by Allen.
- After The Citadel built a 50-42 lead, Samford came back with an 8-0 run to knot the score at 50-50 with 12:28 left after a dunk by Allen.
- With Samford trailing, 54-50, the Bulldogs went on a 10-0 run to take a 60-54 lead with 9:09 to play after a layup by Sharkey.
- Samford built its lead to 12 points at 68-56 with 3:02 left in the game after a three-pointer by Sharkey.
- After The Citadel cut the lead to six at 68-62, Samford scored the final six points of the game to close out the 74-62 win.
