BIRMINGHAM Ala. – The Samford men's basketball team fell in a hard-fought, 80-74 contest with SoCon-leading ETSU Saturday afternoon in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 9-21 overall 3-13 in Southern Conference games. ETSU improves to 25-4 overall and 14-2 in league play.

• Robert Allen led Samford with 25 points in the loss.
• Josh Sharkey had 20 points and nine assists.
• Jalen Dupree added 12 points for Samford.
• For ETSU, Tray Boyd III led the way with 18 points.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• ETSU jumped out to an early 12-5 lead with 15:07 left in the first half.
• Samford fought back to take a 16-13 lead with 11:45 to go in the half after a layup by Allen.
• The teams went back-and-forth the rest of the first half and they went to the locker room at halftime knotted at 42-42.
• ETSU built an eight-point lead at 52-44 with 16:07 left in the game.
• Samford answered with a 10-0 run to take a 54-52 lead with 11:58 left in the contest following a three-pointer by Logan Padgett.
• Samford built a four-point lead at 65-61, but ETSU answered with a 12-2 run to take a 73-67 lead with 2:10 to go in the contest.
• Samford cut the lead to three at 75-72, but the Bulldogs could get no closer as ETSU came away with the 80-74 win.
