BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team opened Southern Conference play with a 6-1 loss to ETSU Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Complex.
With the loss, Samford falls 4-5 overall and 0-1 in Southern Conference play. ETSU improves to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in league matches.
ETSU took the doubles point with wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to earn the first point of the match.
In singles, Samford earned the win at No. 1, with
Rossouw Norval defeating Yusuf Khamis, 6-4, 7-5. ETSU, however, won on the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 courts to close out the 6-1 win.
The Bulldogs will play at UNCG March 7. The match is set for a 1 p.m. (CT) start from Greensboro, N.C.
