BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team earned a 7-0 win over UT Martin and a 4-1 victory over Western Kentucky Saturday at the Samford Tennis Center.
With the wins, Samford improves to 7-5 on the season. UT Martin falls to 1-9, and Western Kentucky falls to 6-8 with the loss.
In the first match, Samford earned doubles wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to earn the first point of the match. The match at No. 3 doubles was not finished.
In singles, Samford earned wins on all six courts to close out the 7-0 win. The first four singles matches were won in straight sets, with the matches at No. 5 and No. 6 going to a third set.
In the second match of the day, Samford again took the doubles point with wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. The match at No. 1 doubles was not finished.
On the singles courts, WKU won at No. 4, but Samford earned wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 to close out the 4-1 victory.
Samford will play at Florida Atlantic March 11 at 9 a.m. (CT).
