BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's basketball team fell in a hard-fought Southern Conference contest in an 82-70 setback to UNC Greensboro Saturday afternoon in the Pete Hanna Center.
With the loss, Samford falls 5-7 overall and 1-4 in Southern Conference play. UNCG improves to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samford jumped out to an early 8-5 lead with 16:53 to go in the first half after a three-pointer by Staton-McCray.
- UNCG came back to take a 17-12 lead at the 13:05 mark in the first half after a three-pointer by Hayden Koval.
- The Spartans built their lead to 11 points at 29-18 with 9:31 left in the half following a three-pointer by A.J. McGinnis.
- With Samford trailing, 35-28, the Bulldogs used a 10-2 run to take a 38-37 lead with 2:33 left in the first half on a dunk by Logan Dye.
- Samford held a 40-39 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.
- UNCG came back to take a 49-47 lead with 15:15 left in the second half after a layup by Miller.
- The Spartans built their lead to six points at 53-47 with 13:51 to go in the period after a pair of free throws by Khrye Thompson.
- UNCG pushed its lead to 12 points at 64-52 with 10:27 to go in the second half after a three-point play by Mohammed Abdulsalam.
- Samford, however, answered with an 11-2 run to cut the lead to 66-63 with 6:16 left after a three-point play by Guess.
- UNCG then used an 11-3 run to push its lead back out to 11 points at 77-66 with 1:27 left in regulation after a three-point play by Miller.
- The Spartans finished with the 82-70 win.
