BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In a back-and-forth game throughout, the Samford men's basketball team dropped a 70-64 decision to the Chattanooga Mocs Wednesday evening in the Pete Hanna Center.
With the loss, Samford falls to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in Southern Conference play. Chattanooga improves to 12-4 overall and 3-4 in league play.

- Logan Dye led Samford with 13 points in the loss.
- Preston Parks followed with 12 points for the Bulldogs.
- A.J. Staton-McCray added 11 points, six rebounds and four assists for Samford.
- Malachi Smith led Chattanooga with 16 points and nine rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After falling behind 4-0, Samford scored the next five points to take a 5-4 lead with 14:44 left in the first half after a three-pointer by Triston Chambers.
- Chattanooga came back to take an 11-7 lead with 11:58 left in the half following a three-pointer by Smith.
- Samford came back to take a 16-13 lead with 8:34 left in the half after another three-pointer by Chambers.
- Chattanooga then went on a 9-2 run to take a 22-18 lead with 2:34 left in the half after a jumper by Darius Banks.
- The Mocs held a 25-22 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.
- Chattanooga scored the first five points of the second half to push its lead out to 30-22 with 19:02 left in the second half following a pair of free throws by Banks.
- Samford then went on a 16-2 run to take a 38-32 lead with 14:31 left in the half following a jumper by Logan Dye.
- Chattanooga answered with an 8-0 run to take a 40-38 lead with 12:06 left in the second half following a three-pointer by A.J. Caldwell.
- Over the next eight minutes, the lead changed hands five times and there were five ties.
- Chattanooga took a 57-52 lead with 3:56 left in the second half following a pair of free throws by Banks.
- Samford cut the lead to two at 59-57 with 3:13 to go in the second half after a three-pointer by Staton-McCray.
- Chattanooga pushed its lead back out to eight points at 66-58 with 38 seconds left in regulation after a three-pointer by David Jean-Baptiste.
- Samford cut the lead to four at 68-64, but the Bulldogs could get no closer as Chattanooga came away with the 70-64 win.
