Women’s Tennis Falls At Home To Central Arkansas, 5-2

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Central Arkansas Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
With the loss, Samford falls to 0-2 on the young season. Central Arkansas improves to 2-6 with the win.
Samford earned the win at No. 1 singles where Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg defeated Chunxi Xin, 7-6, 6-3. At No. 4 singles, Alex Koniaev defeated Maja Gledic, 7-5, 2-6, 1-0. UCA earned the wins on the No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles courts.
UCA also won the doubles point, taking the wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts, for the 5-2 win. On the No. 3 doubles court, Samford's Alexis Lopez and Ally Hayduk defeated Gledic and Sumomo Hamanaga, 6-3.
Samford will play at Mississippi State Sunday. The match is set for a 3 p.m. start from Starkville, Miss.
