Andrea Cournoyer, the Samford University women's basketball team fell 73-48 to Ole Miss on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at The Pavilion. The junior from Merryville, La., made 10-of-15 shots from the floor, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, in the loss for the Bulldogs (4-8). Shakira Austin led the Rebels (10-1) with 20 points and eight rebounds with Destiny Salary (12) and Andeija Puckett (10) finishing in double figures. The victory was the 10
th in a row for the Rebels.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Points were a premium in the first 2:30 of the game, as Samford led 4-2 on a pair of baskets by Andrea Cournoyer and Sussy Ngulefac.
- Ole Miss answered with a 6-2 run to take a 10-6 lead with 4:17 to play in the first quarter.
- A pair of 3-pointers by Cournoyer kept the Bulldogs within three, 17-14, at the end of the period. Cournoyer paced all players with 10 points while Shakira Austin led the Rebels with six.
- Ole Miss extended its lead to double digits with an 11-2 run to open the second quarter. The Rebels led 28-16 with 4:59 remaining in the half. Destiny Salary had four in the stretch with Snudda Collins adding a 3-pointer right before the timeout.
- After falling behind by 16, Samford responded with a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to seven, 34-27, with 32 seconds left in the half.
- Caitlin McGee and Lashonda Monk delivered back-to-back layups with less than 30 seconds in the half to put the Rebels back up 11, 38-27, at the break.
- The Rebels continued to use their size as an advantage, as Austin started the third quarter with two jumpers in the paint to put Ole Miss up 42-29.
- Armstrong opened the second half scoring for Samford with a 15-foot jumper, but Ole Miss answered with a pair of short jumpers to keep the margin at 17, 46-29, with 7:03 left in the third.
- After a 3-pointer by Cournoyer, the Rebels led 50-34 with 4:09 to go in the period.
- With eight points in the quarter by Austin, Ole Miss held a 62-37 lead at the end of the third.
- Cournoyer got the Bulldogs started quickly in the fourth with a quick 4-0 run.
- The Rebels held the Bulldogs without a field goal for 3:27 before Ngulefac's driving layup with 6:05 to play.
- Both teams used the final 2:45 to get quality minutes for non-starters, as Ole Miss closed out the 73-48 victory.
STATS OF THE GAME:
- Both teams shot over 40 percent in the game with Samford making 41 percent and Ole Miss 42 percent. The Rebels out-rebounded the Bulldogs 46-27 with a 44-28 edge in scoring in the paint.

- Samford and Ole Miss were meeting for just the third time in the series and the first in the regular season with both teams owning one victory each in postseason play. The Rebels posted a 64-45 victory over Samford on March 19, 2021, in the Women's National Invitation Tournament in Memphis, Tenn. The Bulldogs defeated Ole Miss 66-65 on March 18, 2010, in the WNIT.
