BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Registering its third win of the season, the Samford women's tennis team posted a dominant 7-0 victory over Nicholls State Friday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.

Samford would not drop a single set over the course of the match to the Colonels, improving the Bulldogs to an overall record of 3-4. Nicholls State now goes 0-2 on their season after the loss.

The Bulldogs clinched the doubles point with wins on all three courts. Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg and Alexis Lopez, improving to 2-0 on the season, cruised to a 6-0 win on court one, while Natalia De Ugarte and Cindy Oest, over on court two, defeated Carla Bouygues and Morgan Forshag 6-2. The doubles lineup was rounded out by Olivia Jablonski and Alex Koniaev at court three where they secured a 7-5 victory over their opponents, Laura Lopez Velez and Nuria Martin Lopez.

The same focus and energy that was shown in doubles was also seen in singles as all six Bulldogs earned straight-set victories on their respective courts. Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg had no trouble locking in a 6-0, 6-1 win over Simona Maksimovic at the No. 1 spot, while Natalia De Ugarte saw a 6-2, 6-1 victory on the next court over against Laura Lopez Velez. Alexis Lopez earned her third win of the season after an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win on court three over Nikita Pinto.

Cindy Oest nabbed her second win of the season at the No. 4 spot with a 6-2, 6-4 victory against her opponent, Carla Bouygues. Singles play would then be closed out by Samantha Nanere on court five with a 6-4, 6-4 win and Olivia Jablonski with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 6 spot in her first appearance of the season.
