CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match against the College of Charleston on Saturday afternoon at the Tennis Center at Patriots Point.

The Bulldogs are now notched at 7-7 on the season with the loss, while the Cougars earned their fourth win of the season for an overall record of 4-6.
 
Samford collected the doubles point over the College of Charleston with wins at the No. 1 and 2 spots. Natalia De Ugarte and Cindy Oest had no problem defeating their opponents, Anastasia Palaska and Halli Trinkle, at court two with a final score of 6-2. Samantha Nanere and Olivia Jablonski followed suit on court three with a 6-3 victory over Slade Coetzee and Clara Errard for their first win as a pair this season.
 
Single competition proved difficult with the Bulldogs only finding wins at courts five and six. Samantha Nanere and Olivia Jablonski both faced three-set battles against their opponents and walked away victorious for Samford. Nanere captured her sixth win on the season at the No. 5 spot with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Victoria Walter. Joblanski now sits at 5-2 after defeating Peyton Brotzman, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1, at the No. 6 spot.
  
The Bulldogs will continue their time in South Carolina with their next match against Charleston Southern on Saturday, Mar. 13 at 11 a.m. at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center.
