Greensboro, N.C. – The Samford women's tennis team notched a 6-1 conference win Friday afternoon, as the Bulldogs defeated UNC Greensboro at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.

After three straight-wins, Samford improves its overall to 10-7, while the Spartans are handed their second loss of the season for a record of 4-2.
 
The Bulldogs controlled all the action in doubles with wins on all three courts to claim the early point. Samford's Natalia De Ugarte and Cindy Oest limited their opponents, Tayah Cross and Emily Ory, to only two points for a 6-2 victory at the middle court. Olivia Jablonski and Samantha Nanere clinched the doubles point for the Bulldogs with a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot after defeating Brianna Gomez and Juliana Craft. On the top court, Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg and Alexis Lopez battled Hanna Giddings and Sophia Adams, eventually claiming a 7-5 victory for their eighth win of the season.
 
Samford carried its momentum over into singles play with victories on five of the six courts. Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg captured her 11th win of the season at the No. 1 spot after a gritty 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win over Sophia Adams. On the next court over, Natalia De Ugarte defeated her opponent, Brianna Gomez, by a final score of 6-1, 6-3 to improve her overall record to 7-5. Cindy Oest locked in a 6-2, 7-5 win at the No. 4 spot over Emily Ory, while Olivia Jablonski collected her victory on court five in dominant fashion with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Eugenia Camacho. Samantha Nanere stays undefeated at the No. 6 spot this season with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Juliana Craft.
 
The Bulldogs will return to the court on Friday, Mar. 26 at 1 p.m. for a match against ETSU at the Samford Tennis Center.
