HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –  The Samford men's tennis team blanked fellow Bulldogs, Alabama A&M, 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in Huntsville, Alabama to mark its fifth win of the season.

The Samford Bulldogs improve their record to 5-5 on the season, while Alabama A&M suffers its fifth loss of the season for a record of 1-5.
 
"We got off to a good start in singles today in all first sets," said Head Coach Rahim Esmail. "Tomas and Eladio did a great job in their doubles match. Looking forward to competing again tomorrow."
 
Samford claimed the doubles point after capturing wins on court one and two. Tomas Santantonio and Eladio Fabregas blanked their opponents Cheng Chang Yang and Gjorgji Poplovski with a straight score of 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. Victor Chaw and Jim Hendrix followed at the No. 1 spot with a 6-4 win over Panji Setiawan and Rodrigo Arana Rios to give the Bulldogs the early advantage.
 
In singles, Tomas Santantonio finished first for Samford at the No. 6 spot with a 6-0, 6-1 win over his opponent Austin Smith. Mohammed Ali Bellalouna also recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win, defeating his opponent Cheng Chang Yang on court five. Eladio Fabregas and Jim Hendrix both claimed 6-0, 6-4 victories against Panji Setiawan and Gjorgji Popovski, respectively, while Victor Chaw locked in a 6-1, 6-3 win against Fermin Ruiz at the No. 2 spot. Rossouw Norval rounded out singles play with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Rodrigo Arana Rios at court one. This marks his fifth win at the No. 1 spot so far this season.
 
The Bulldogs will be back at the Samford Tennis Center tomorrow, Sunday, Mar. 6, to compete against Bellarmine University at 1 p.m. to close out the weekend.
