BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team had another dominant performance, earning a 7-0 victory over Bellarmine University on Sunday afternoon for back-to-back sweeps this weekend at the Samford Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs now have a winning record of 6-5 on the season with the win, while the Bellarmine Knights earn their twelfth loss of the season for an overall record of 3-12.
"We did a good job of taking care of business today. We got the match play that we needed this weekend and we were able to improve on some things yesterday and today. All 10 guys had a great energy level today and competed extremely well, whether it was on court or whether it was guys off the court who didn't compete," said Head Coach
Rahim Esmail.
"Everyone played a role and that is the way it needs to be. We have a lot of work ahead of us and need to get better in a few positions in singles and doubles, but I am happy about the progress that the team is making."
In doubles play,
Victor Chaw and
Jim Hendrix continued with their perfect slate after locking in a 6-2 victory over Cole Groetsch and Evan Bortoff at the No. 1 spot. On the next court over,
Tomas Santantonio and
Eladio Fabregas also captured a 6-2 win over their opponents ,Paul Reynolds and Ian Deiters, to secure the doubles point for the Bulldogs.
Rossouw Norval improved his overall record to 6-2 at the No. 1 spot after a three-set battle against Cole Groetsch for a 4-6 6-4 1-0(6) victory.
Victor Chaw and
Tomas Santantonio both posted final scores of 6-1, 6-1 at court two and five, respectively. At the No. 3 spot,
Eladio Fabregas defeated his opponent Evan Bortoff 6-0, 6-3 for his seventh win of the season, while
Jim Hendrix recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win over Paul Reynolds at court four. In the final spot,
Mohammed Ali Bellalouna battled Ian Deiters for 7-5 set one victory, which was followed up with quick 6-1 win in set two.
The Samford men's tennis team will travel to Tampa, Florida to compete against the University of South Florida on Saturday, Mar. 13 at 9 a.m. at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
