BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team registered it second sweep of the season with a 7-0 victory against the Bellarmine Knights on Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs improve their overall record to 7-6, while the Knights have yet to find a win as they fall to 0-8 on their season.  
 
All doubles partners for Samford earned victories on their respective courts to take an early 1-0 lead over Bellarmine. Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg and Alexis Lopez recorded a 6-1 win against Ava Ratcliff and Madison Devillez at the No. 1 spot for the duos sixth win of the season. Natalia De Ugarte and Cindy Oest followed also posted a 6-1 win on court two against Aubrey Smith and Morgan Whitlock. Lauren Waddles and Betsy Blanchard made their first appearance in doubles at the No. 3 spot where they registered a 6-4 win over Channing Varnum and Maja Kozerski.
 
In singles play, Alexis Lopez locked in her first win of the season at the No. 1 spot after defeating her opponent, Aubrey Smith, 6-3, 6-2. On court two, Cindy Oest claimed a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Madison Devillez, while Alex Koniaev matched that same score at the No. 3 spot against Morgan Whitlock. 
 
Samantha Maras found her first win of the season on court four against Maja Kozerski with a score of 6-3, 6-0. Ally Hayduk also captured her first win after a dominant performance at the No. 5 spot with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Channing Varnum. The final point would come from a default win on court six for Lauren Waddles. 
 
The Bulldogs will head back out on the road to compete against the College of Charleston on Friday, Mar. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Tennis Center at Patriots Point.
