Track And Field To Compete At UAB Spring Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford track and field team continues the outdoor campaign at the UAB Spring Invitational.
The Bulldogs jump back into the outdoor season following a weekend off. Samford competed in their first outdoor meet since 2019 on March 19-20 at Georgia Tech. Samford had a strong showing at the meet garnering a total of 11 first-place finishes across the two-day competition.
The UAB Spring Invitational will be hosted at the UAB Track & Field Complex in Birmingham, Ala on Friday, April 2 and Saturday, April 3. Field events will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friaday, with the men's javelin throw and the running events will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the women's 1500-meter run. On Saturday, the field events will start with the women's hammer throw at 9:00 a.m. and the running events will kick off with the women's 5000-meter run at 9:00 a.m. No spectators will be allowed at the Spring Invite due to ongoing COVID-19 precautions.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH:
- Maggie Johnston is coming off a pair of wins at the Yellow Jacket Invite in the women's shot put and the women's discus. Johnston also took home a third-place finish in the women's hammer throw in her first competition in a Samford uniform since 2019. For her performances, Johnston was named the Southern Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of March 22.
- Hannah Daffin had a strong start to her outdoor career at Samford with two second-place finishes in the women's shot put and the women's hammer throw. Daffin brings in valuable points for the Bulldogs in the throwing events.
- Amanda Dumar claimed first-place points the women's 400-meter hurdles at the Yellow Jacket Invite, her performance earned her the Southern Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors for the week of March 22. Dumar will look to continue her strong 2021 at the UAB Spring Invite.
- Titus Moore also took home first-place honors for the Bulldogs with a victory in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
- Michael McMahan was named the Southern Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of March 22 following his performance in the men's 400-meter hurdles.
- Justin Stuckey continued his dominance in the men's high jump with a first-place finish at the Yellow Jacket Invite. Stuckey will continue the quest for a men's high jump sweep after taking the SoCon men's indoor title previously this year.
