  • Furman responded two innings later in the top of the fifth with a leadoff home run from Amanda Fleming after she launched a ball over the left field fence to put the score at 3-1. The Paladins then loaded the bases in the top of the next inning with two outs, but Emily Barnett threw a key pitch and struck out Fleming on the swing.
  • In the bottom half of the inning, Katheryn Jackson extended the Bulldogs lead to 4-1 with a dinger over left field for Samford's first and only home run on the afternoon. Emily Barnett returned to the circle in the top of the seventh and struck out Chloe Fabio. This would be followed by two groundouts to shortstop Ansley Yantis to secure a 2-1 series win over the Paladins.
