CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Samford women's tennis team moved to 12-10 on the season and 2-3 in Southern Conference play with a 6-1 victory over Western Carolina on Wednesday afternoon at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

Western Carolina would grab the early point with wins on courts one and two in doubles play. Olivia Jablonski and Samantha Nanere would secure the lone Samford win at the No. 3 spot after winning the tie breaker set, 7-6 (7-5), against Antonella Benavides and Emily Elliott.
 
The Bulldogs responded in singles action with straight-set victories in four of the five matches. Alexis Lopez would strike first for Samford, locking in a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Anna Uljanov at the No. 3 spot. This would be followed by another Bulldog victory on court two as Natalia De Ugarte defeated her opponent, Jacy Smith, 6-2, 6-1. 
 
Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg locked in her 14th win at the No.1 spot this season with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Kata Foldeak, while Samantha Nanere won her match after Western Carolina's Antonella Benavides retired on court five. Ally Hayduck wrapped up the Bulldogs lineup after she battled Emily Elliott at the No. 6 spot, eventually taking a 3-6, 7-5 (8-10), 13-11 victory over her opponent.
 
The Samford women's tennis team will continue on the road with their next match on Friday, Apr. 16 at 2 p.m. against the Mercer Bears at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
