MACON, Ga. – The Samford women's tennis team has now captured back-to-back wins after a 4-3 road victory over the Mercer Bears Friday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs were able to secure the doubles point to take a 1-0 advantage. Natalia De Ugarte and Cindy Oest never faltered against their opponents, Lauren Rich and Alara Hollyfield, for a 6-0 win on court two to improve the pair's overall record to 10-3 on the season. This would be followed by a 6-2 victory at the No. 1 spot for Samford duo, Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg and Alexis Lopez, for a total of 13 wins on the year. On court three, Olivia Jablonski and Samantha Nanere notched a 6-2 win over Kristin Yordanova and Lekha Varudandi to close out doubles competition.
 
In singles, Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg was quick off the court with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Maeva Roquebert to put the Bulldogs ahead, 2-0. Mercer would even the score with wins at the No. 2 and 4 spots, but Samantha Nanere would regain the lead for Samford with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over her opponent, Ashley Popham, on court six for her 12th win of the season. Mercer then responded with a win at the No. 3 spot to tie the match once again, however, Olivia Jablonski battled Lekha Varudandi to three sets for a 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 spot to give the Bulldogs a 4-3 win over the Bears.
 
The Samford women's tennis team will close out its regular season on the road with its final match against Chattanooga Sunday, Apr. 18 at 12 p.m. at the UTC Tennis Courts.
