CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Samford women's tennis team rounded out its weekend on the road with a 6-1 victory over Chattanooga to close out its regular season on Sunday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center.

Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg and Alexis Lopez grabbed Samford's first win in doubles at the No. 1 spot, defeating Emma Van Hee and Caroline Gibbens by a 6-2 final decision for the pairs 14th win this season. On the next court over, Natalia De Ugarte and Cindy Oest gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage after locking in a 6-4 victory over Jessie Young and Bogdana Zaporozhets, while Olivia Jablonski and Samantha Nanere dropped their match to Callie Billman and Polina Goloputova, 7-5, on court three.
 
Samford continued to push in singles action with Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg claiming a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win against her opponent, Jessie Young, on court one. Alexis Lopez recorded the Bulldogs next singles win at the No. 3 spot with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Polina Goloputova, while Olivia Jablonski pushed the score to 4-1 after her 6-2, 7-6 win on court five against Callie Billman.
 
Samantha Nanere captured the final straight-set victory of the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Caroline Gibbens at the No. 6 spot to improve her overall record to 13-7 on the season. Cindy Oest and Natalia De Ugarte found themselves in three-set battles against their opponents with Oest coming out the other side victorious with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot. However, Natalia De Ugarte fell to her opponent, Emma Van Hee, on court two by a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 final decision.
 
The Samford women's tennis team will now head into the post-season and compete in the Southern Conference Tournament which will be held on Apr. 23-24 at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex.
